Junior Golf in Catoosa County next week!

In case you don't know, next week Catoosa County is host to the Ringgold Telephone Company AJGA Golf tournament. It's a (mostly) week-long event including a Junior-AM, three days of competition, nightly events and exhibitions, etc.

The event is played at Windstone Golf Club. There's a qualifying round on Sunday.

If you think watching a bunch of juniors hack their way around the course would be boring, then consider this: Last year's ladies' champion shot a tournament record 63!

These kids are good!

Come on out and support these young golfers. It's a fun event!

Jeff Holcomb... boxer!

In the June 1, 2005 issue of the Catoosa County News, page 3B, this article:

"Music City World Title Fight to Feature Jeff Holcomb"

In case you don't remember, Jeff Holcomb is a Ft. Oglethorpe police officer who ran last year for Catoosa County Sheriff before suffering a knock-out blow by incumbent Sheriff Phil Summers.

The new match-up pits Jeff Holcomb (9-3 record with 8 knockouts) against Bobby Gunn (12-1 record with 10 knockouts).

Once again the underdog challenger, let's wish our local boy the best!

Tickets are on sale at Rock Solid Boxing TV. The fight is in Nashville, on June 2nd........

Waitaminute! That was yesterday! Why the heck is the newspaper giving us only one day's advance notice?!

Nevermind...
